3 day Excursion Itinerary : From Errachidia to Marrakech via Draa Vally
Day 1: Errachidia – Ziz Valley – Merzouga Desert
Start your journey in the morning from Errachidia, traveling through the Ziz Valley, known for its lush palm groves and traditional mud-brick villages. Stop for panoramic views before continuing towards Merzouga.
Arriving in Merzouga, you’ll switch to camels for a sunset trek through the golden dunes of Erg Chebbi. Upon reaching your desert camp, enjoy a warm Berber welcome with mint tea, followed by a traditional dinner under the stars. The evening will be filled with music, drumming, and storytelling around the campfire.
Day 2: Merzouga – Alnif – Draa Valley – Agdz
Wake up early to watch the sunrise over the dunes before riding camels back to Merzouga. After breakfast, depart towards the Draa Valley, passing through Alnif and the beautiful landscapes of the Anti-Atlas Mountains.
Arrive in Draa Valley, the longest valley in Morocco, famous for its thousands of date palm trees and ancient kasbahs. Stop in Agdz, a historic town on the ancient caravan route, and visit the Kasbah Tamnougalt, an important stronghold in the region.
Spend the night in Agdz or nearby in a traditional guesthouse, where you can enjoy a peaceful evening and a delicious local dinner.
Day 3: Agdz – Ouarzazate – Ait Ben Haddou – Marrakech
After breakfast, continue towards Ouarzazate, the gateway to the Sahara. Here, visit Atlas Studios, where famous movies like Gladiator and Game of Thrones were filmed, and explore the historic Kasbah Taourirt.
Next, head to the legendary Ait Ben Haddou, a UNESCO-listed ksar (fortified village) that has been an important trading post for centuries. Walk through its ancient streets and enjoy lunch with a view of the kasbah.
In the afternoon, cross the Tizi n’Tichka Pass (2,260m) in the High Atlas Mountains, enjoying breathtaking landscapes before arriving in Marrakech in the evening.
